Job Description


The Commodity Buyer executes the sourcing process for the Fram Group. The Commodity Buyer monitors business objectives and relevant commodity market trends, develops appropriate global sourcing strategy to continuously improve product costs and quality, secure supply, negotiate and implemented supply agreements, capitalize on market trends and support the supply chain function when required. The Commodity Buyer shall also demonstrate proficiency to fulfill program management functions, when cost savings and supplier development activities require the initiation, development and full execution of sourcing projects.  


  • Exceed performance objectives by developing and executing comprehensive sourcing strategies which include considerable focus on cost savings project management 
  • Deliver business targeted AOP savings year over year
  • Develop, formalize and execute Sourcing Strategies consistent with FRAM Group’s vision and mid-long term plans, in a cross-functional team environment
  • Optimize and balance supply base size across the Globe 
  • Develops and Implement Total Cost of Ownership costing models 
  • Grow Emerging Region expenditures significantly 
  • Implement timely and cost-effective VA/VE actions in a cross-functional team environment, in conjunction with FRAM Group Engineering, Program Management and Operations teams.
  • Negotiate short term and long term agreements with FRAM Group legal team support and guidance, including pricing, quality, lead-time, mode of shipment, payment terms and supplier performance expectations
  • Own Quality, Cost, Delivery, Lead-Time, Raw Material Inventory, Payment Terms and Service productivity for assigned commodities 
  • Own Data Integrity in ERP system (SAP and/or other system) 
  • Manage PDM projects daily 
  • Build deep industry and commodity subject matter expertise and becomes the expert responsible for feedstock monitoring and tracking 
  • Perform RFI, RFQ processes and analysis, coordinate cross-functional NPI pre-award meetings and present business/award recommendations in connection with developed Sourcing Strategies
  • Ensure compliance with Fram Group standard policies, procedures, internal audit and Sarbanes-Oxley controls, plus quality management processes
  • Monitor and report performance of suppliers and related industry macroeconomic trends to peers and stakeholders
  • Supports Quality System initiatives and system maintenance, in connection with FRAM Group’s industry certifications and required business compliance
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and assign the applicable priority according with immediate and long-term business needs.
  • Be able to start and lead cross-functional teams, from recognizing a competitive advantage opportunity, to build a business case and coordinate activities to implement new projects and ideas.



Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS (Education/Experience/Certifications/Skills)

 Bachelor’s degree – purchasing, business, or engineering preferred  Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in purchasing and project management, preferably within automotive, consumer goods or packaging industries (knowledge of filtration media and rubber components sourcing a plus)

Proficient use of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) Fluent in English (Spanish and/or Chinese a plus) Ability to Regional and Global Travel up to 50%  Proven experience in supplier negotiations including preparing and administering Long Term Agreements  Proven effectiveness in working in a global, multicultural environment with team members collaborating in multiple global regions and time zones. Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate concisely at all levels inside and outside the company in a multicultural environment.
