Lead and improve the technical aspects of the department to drive improvements in the Key Metrics: safety, quality, productivity, delivery and continuous improvement. Individual will be a highly trained journeyman tradesman working directly in operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the flow of all maintenance planned work activity in the area to ensure proper operations of equipment including safety, quality, and preventative maintenance to meet production metrics.
  • Assist with work orders submitted for area to identify problems with information, layout, or cost.
  • Provide the area with effective technical leadership, guidance, and communication.
  • Collaborate with technical personnel for installations, repairs, adjustments and process improvements.
  • Maintain work areas and tools according to Visual Management and 5S Standards.
  • Work from established procedures including Safety, Environmental, Quality, Standard Work and verbal instruction.
  • Be a role model to encourage good attendance and good work habits
  • Have a working knowledge of all department operations.
  • Facilitate a continuous improvement culture by instilling Plan, Do, Check, Act, and root cause corrective action methodology to eliminate waste.
  • Create a work environment conducive to employee morale, motivation, and teamwork to accomplish performance objectives.
  • Implement behaviors, systems, and processes to continually improve competitiveness.
  • Communicate goal progress and roadblocks to Coach or Engineer.
  • Be a self-directed project leader, enabled to design, plan and perform work required to meet key production metric.
  • Generate and implement work orders and kaizens to maximize impact on the key metrics
  • Develop, execute and improve machine preventative maintenance
  • Assist Setup A in Setup Procedures and Correct Operation of Equipment.
  • Assist in training of new Set-up A’s.
  • Be a point of contact for the area for work requests, work orders, or kaizens escalated to engineering and maintenance
  • Coordinate schedules and work with Group leaders and other departments based on craft, equipment availability and time needed to complete.
  • Escalate to Dispatch
  • Participate in Frequent Targeted Technical Training
  • Communicate technical changes within department, assuring buy-in from all Shifts

Journeyman’s card in at least one trade.

Extended apprenticeship program to be developed for first-time apprentices in Maintenance Planner role.

High-level communication skills both written and verbal.

Demonstrates the ability to develop people.

Strong knowledge of industrial automation design and control, including PLC programming, pneumatics, hydraulics, motion control, motor branch circuits, power transient components and associated components.

Leadership and mechanical aptitude and a passion for technology.

Must be self-directed; possess decision-making, problem solving, strong communication, and computer skills.

Technical Leadership and integrity; manages by fact, achieves results, builds teams.

Bias for action, decisive, and self-directed.

Refer all questionable conditions to Coach or Engineer.

Lifting up to 60#, with the ability to walk and stand for extended periods.

Stretching, lifting, climbing, twisting, turning, standing, pulling, pushing, reaching and bending.

Perform other duties as required or assigned.
